Nine Mile is a village located in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica,
a few miles south of Brown's Town.
The birthplace of reggae legend, Bob Marley.
Bob Marley's birthplace and Mausoleum tour
is operated by Bob's family.
There are tours through Marley's house with Rastafarian guides.
Mt. Zion Rock, called Bob's meditation spot
and the "Pillow" mentioned in the song "Talking Blues")
is located on that property.

There are a number of ways to visit Nine Mile, depending on your time frame.
Taxi -
Taxi drivers make it a pleasant ride to where Bob Marley's boyhood home is located. The closest city to Nine Mile is Ocho Rios, which is about 1.5 hours away. Montego Bay is 2.5 hours away and Negril is 3.5 hours away. Taking a taxi offers you a more private tour of the area. Most drivers are helpful, courteous and fun to be with! You can stop all along the way and enjoy much more than a guided bus tour.
Guided Tour -
Many agencies offer guided tours to Nine Mile. If you are arriving by cruise ship and have only a limited amount of time to visit the area, arrange ahead with a tour agency so the tour will be within your time frame. Tour operators are aware that many tourists have a limited time and tours are arranged to fit in with cruise ship schedules. Guided tours will also guarantee you an official tour guide and often include lunch.
Rental Car -
If you are adventurous, you can rent a car and drive to Nine Mile. The roads are in fairly good condition, but the mountain roads are curvy, and you will want to watch for some potholes. Better to stick to daytime driving. Renting a car is a great experience and will give you the flexibility to stop all along the way to take in the sights
at your leisure.
